levitra

Levitra is the brand name for vardenafil, an oral medication used to treat men who have sexual impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction or ED.

It’s part of a group of drugs known as phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors. PDE5 inhibitors work by preventing an enzyme, PDE5, from working too rapidly in certain areas of the body, including the penis.

Levitra increases venous congestion in that area and helps a man get and keep an erection during sexual intercourse. By itself, Levitra does not cause an erection – there must also be physical stimulation of the penis to achieve an erection.

information

Taking Levitra Magic Pill with certain other medicines can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Do not take vardenafil if you also take riociguat (Adempas) or a nitrate drug such as nitroglycerin.

Contact your doctor or seek emergency medical attention if your erection is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours. A prolonged erection (priapism) can damage the penis.

During sexual activity, if you become dizzy or nauseated, or have pain, numbness, or tingling in your chest, arms, neck, or jaw, stop and call your doctor right away. You could be having a serious side effect.

Levitra is used to treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction-ED). In combination with sexual stimulation, vardenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection.

The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use.

Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra are all PDE-5 inhibitors. They work by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 and by boosting a naturally occurring chemical called nitric oxide. This action encourages the muscles in your penis to relax. Relaxed muscles allow blood to flow freely so that when you’re aroused, you can get an erection —  and maintain it long enough to have sex.

Levitra and Viagra stay in your bloodstream for about four to six hours, while Cialis remains in your bloodstream for 17 to 18 hours or longer. The length of time a medication stays in your system may be important if you are taking other medications or have prolonged side effects.

dosage is right

Levitra tablets contain an active ingredient called vardenafil. Each tablet contains 2.5 mg, 5mg, 10mg or 20mg vardenafil. Your doctor – or online doctor – will make a dosage recommendation based on your medical history. For men who are trying Levitra for the first time, the recommended dose is 10mg.

Which different dosages are there?

Levitra is prescribed in different dosages. The dose you are prescribed depends on your medical history. Most men can take the standard dosage of 10mg, but patients who suffer from some liver problems or other health problems are prescribed the lower dosages.

Which dosage you can take may also depend on other medications you are taking, so it is important that you mention any medications you are currently on to your prescribing doctor.

2.5 mg and 5mg tablets – may be suitable for men who can’t take the higher dosage due to a medical condition.

10 mg tablets – standard dosage, recommended when taking Levitra for the first time.

20 mg tablets – prescribed to men who find that the 10mg dose is not enough.

What is the recommended dosage for Levitra?

Which dosage is best for you depend not only on your general health but it also depends on how effective the drug is for you. As with many other types of medication, erectile dysfunction drugs like Levitra Magic Pill do not work equally well for everyone. Some men may find a 10mg highly effective, while others need to take the 20mg dose to get an erection hard enough for sex.

While it is recommended that you try the 10mg dose first, your doctor may later increase or decrease your dosage. This will depend on whether you’re happy with the effect of the medication or not.

Why are the dosages of Levitra different to Viagra?

Levitra contains a medicine called vardenafil. It works in the same way as sildenafil, which is the active ingredient in Viagra. However, vardenafil and sildenafil are not the same substance and they are effective in different dosages.

Common dosages for Viagra are 50mg and 100mg. For Levitra, however, the most commonly prescribed dosages are 10mg and 20mg.

Can I take more Levitra than I have been prescribed?

If you are on one of the lower doses of Levitra and you find the effect too weak, you will most likely be able to take a higher dosage. However, you should always ask the doctor who prescribed your medication to make sure the higher dose is suitable for you.

Can I take more than 20mg Levitra?

The maximum dosage of Levitra is 20mg. You must not exceed this dosage, as this increases the risk that Levitra causes side effects, including serious ones such as priapism (a prolonged and / or painful erection which can damage your penis). If Levitra doesn’t work for you, there are other medications you can try, such as Viagra, Cialis or Spedra.

If you generally find that erectile dysfunction tablets do not help you, you should consult your doctor. Your GP can carry out an assessment to establish why you are having erectile problems and recommend an alternative treatment, for example a penis pump, injection or suppository.

How often can I take Levitra?

It is important that you do not take more than one Levitra tablet per day.

You also shouldn’t take it every day. If you have sex several times a week, a daily treatment such as Cialis daily may suit your needs better.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use Levitra if you are allergic to vardenafil.

Taking Levitra with certain other medicines can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Do not take vardenafil if you also take riociguat (Adempas), or if you take a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems. Nitrates include nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates are also found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite (“poppers”).

Levitra is safeTo make sure Levitra is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

  • heart disease, heart rhythm problems;
  • a recent history (in the past 6 months) of a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure;
  • a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome;
  • high or low blood pressure;
  • seizures;
  • liver disease, kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);
  • a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia;
  • a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia;
  • a stomach ulcer;
  • hearing or vision problems, history of vision loss;
  • an eye disorder such as retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye);
  • a physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie’s disease); or
  • if you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons.

Levitra can decrease blood flow to the optic nerve of the eye, causing sudden vision loss. This has occurred in a small number of people taking Viagra or other drugs similar to vardenafil. Most of these people also had certain pre-existing eye problems or risk factors for blood vessel disorders (such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, smoking, or being over 50 years old). It is not clear whether vardenafil is the actual cause of vision loss.

The levitra side effects of these oral ED medications are similar. Most men have only mild side effects, but persistent problems should be reported to your doctor.

During sexual activity, if you become dizzy or nauseated, or have pain, numbness, or tingling in your chest, arms, neck, or jaw, stop and call your doctor right away. You could be having a serious side effect of vardenafil.

Potential side effects of Levitra include:

Rarely, these medications can cause dizziness or fainting. Another rare complication is an erection that won’t go away (priapism). An erection lasting longer than four hours requires immediate medical intervention.

Levitra Warnings

The FDA issued safety information about Levitra and other ED medicines, warning of possible sudden hearing loss in some men. While no direct cause and effect was demonstrated, the FDA said that the link found between the ED drug use and hearing loss in the case report and other reports warranted a change in the label to reflect the potential problem.

Levitra are oral remedies for erectile dysfunction (ED). About half of all men over age 40 occasionally have a problem with erections. When ED becomes an ongoing problem, many turn to oral ED medications. Results are generally favorable.
